Forres District Heating Network

A better source of Energy

background...

The proposed community-led district heating scheme in Forres was the idea of Andrew McGhee, a local Forres resident.

Andrew is a Process Engineer, having served a long professional career in the Oil and Gas industry, and with recent professional experience in the design and operation of biomass boilers and district heating schemes.

With his knowledge of district heating schemes, Andrew decided to initiate a proposal for a scheme in Forres. He sought support from the Moray Council, and from those people whose houses could be tied into the heat network.

A very long-term vision would be to extend the heating network to other areas of Forres.

Andrew is helped by his wife, Jill, who is helping him with the website and the admin side of things. So, at the moment, they are only a team of two! Any expressions of interest or offers of help would be warmly (..get it?) welcomed.

In summary, they both genuinely want to use what skills and knowledge they have gained from their professional lives to benefit their local town of Forres, and to improve the environmental footprint of our town.
